A giant statue of the Blessing Jesus has been erected on top of a hill above the village of Tarcal. Made of white granite, this new landmark of Tarcal stands 8.5 metres (28 feet) tall and is already inviting many locals and visitors for a climb to the top. The municipality is going to have the area paved around and a walkway built to the statue and spotlights fitted for night-time illumination by mid-August, when a formal consecration will be held.
