The Tokaj wine region consists of 27 settlements. The territory was the first closed wine region over the world. A royal decree (1737) listed those settlements who have appropriate vineyards for Tokaj wine production. Over the past thousand years, original form, the survival traditions of Viticultura and the unity of the region gave the reason to be declared on world heritage site.
