Tokaj Renaissance opens wine shop in Tokaj town

The Tokaj Renaissance Association has opened a wine shop in the recently renovated building of the Tokaj Museum, almost opposite the Tokaj Coffee House. The brief, informal opening ceremony on 10th May saw some glasses of Furmint clinking and a few spontaneous words spoken by mayor of Tokaj town György Posta and László Kalocsai, Dereszla estate manager and president of the Association.

Tokaj town bans display of plastic-bottle wine

The local government of Tokaj town has passed a new regulation banning the display and sales of wine in PET plastic bottles in publicly owned areas within the limits of the town. For the overwhelming majority of plastic-bottled wines is of rather inferior quality and by no means worthy of the Tokaji name, the plastic wine bottle has long become synonymous with plonk.

Vineyard half marathon at october market

  The Disznókő Estate's annual running race, a complementary event to the October edition of the Tokaj-Hegyalja Market since 2013, took the form of a half marathon this year, with attendance having almost quadrupled from 2014. While entries were also available for 5 km and 10 km distances, one-third of the close to 200 participants opted for the 20.8 kilometre-long half marathon, through the vineyards of the Estate.
